About Us
Morgantown Bible Church is a non-denominational Bible church with ministries for every member of the family. There is a great need for churches willing to be faithful to the Word of God, and MBC strives to be one of those churches. It is our intent at MBC to have a ministry where we are all

We believe MBC is to have an active part in fulfilling the "Great Commission" given by the Lord Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20). In response to that comission the objective of this church is to seek the salvation of souls, the edification of Christians through the teaching of the Word, and the worldwide proclamation of God's saving grace expressed in the shed blood and finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ.
What We Believe
The Scriptures
We believe that the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, as recorded in the original manuscripts by those God chose to use, is the infallible and ultimately divinely inspired Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)
The Godhead
We believe in the Trinity of the Godhead. One God eternally existing in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 14:10, 16-17; Acts 5:32; II Corinthians 13:14; I John 5:7)
Virgin Birth
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and that he is true God and true man. (Matthew 1:20-23; Luke 1:35; John 1:14; John 14:9)
Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God. We believe also man, by choice, sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death which is separation from God, and all human beings are born with a sinful human nature. (Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 51:5; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23, 5:12)
Atonement of Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, as a substitutionary sacrifice, and only those with faith in His substitutionary work are jusified in the sight of God through the blood which Christ shed, and thereby become, through adoption, children of God. (John 1:12; Romans 5:1, 8:15-17; Ephesians 1:5, 2:8-9; Hebrews 9:12; I John 2:2)
Resurrection and Return of Christ
We believe in the bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven of the Lord Jesus Christ. We furthermore believe in the bodily, personal, pretribulational, premillennial return of the Lord in the air to receive His church in the clouds and that He will return with His church at the close of the tribulation period to judge the living nations and set up His literal earthly millennial kingdom. (Matthew 25:31-45; I Thessalonians 4:13-18)
Resurrection of Man
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, the just and the unjust; the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the lost. (Matthew 8:11-12, 25:45; John 3:36, 5:21-30; I Thessalonians 4:17-18; Revelation 20:12-15)
Ordinances of the Church
We believe there are two ordinances that are commanded to be observed by the Lord Jesus Christ, those being the Baptism of the believer by immersion, and the Lord's Supper. We furthermore believe Baptism to be for believers only and that it signifies the participant's identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. The Lord's Supper is the commemoration of the Lord's death until He comes and our continual fellowship with Him, and this should be preceded by careful self-examination. These ordinances are observed for the purpose of bearing witness to our identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and do not in any way minister saving grace to the participants. (Matthew 26:26-29, 28:19-20; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:41-42, 8:36-39; Romans 6:3-6; I Corinthians 11:23-32)
Security of the Believer
We believe in the eternal security of believers. Once a person is truly saved he is kept by that same power that saved him, that power being the power of God. We also believe that we can know for certain that we are saved. (John 10:27-29; Romans 8:35-39; I John 5:13; I Peter 1:5)
- growing stronger through prayer,
- growing larger through evangelism,
- growing warmer through fellowship, and
- growing broader through ministry.
